Join Imagine That! in welcoming the traveling exhibition, The Road Ahead, as it makes its 2018 Midwest premiere. The Road Ahead features awe-inspiring art created by artists with developmental disabilities from eight centers across the United States. Catch the exhibition before it moves on to the next stop on Friday, November 2nd, at 6:00 p.m.
Artists with developmental disabilities step into the limelight as they claim their place in the world of contemporary art during a collaborative art show. The national exhibition merges the artists and interests of Art Enables, Creative Trails, Hozhoni Foundation, Imagine That!, MOSA Museum of Special Art, N4th Gallery, Sophie's Gallery, and Suzie Cappa Art Center.
Together they celebrate the talents of persons with developmental disabilities while helping them to forge an identity as a person that is creative, original, sensitive, independent, imaginative, and as someone who can affect an emotional response in others with their art. Featuring the artwork of 32 individual artists, The Road Ahead will touch many lives across the country as it travels for over a year from coast to coast, stopping in eight cities along the way.
Imagine That! is a Crossroads art studio that caters to creative individuals with developmental disabilities. Artists are supported by teams of other artists that help integrate the studio into the art community at a local, national, and international level. Imagine That! supports up to 50 individual artists with 13 staff members and a number of volunteers from the surrounding area. Since 2012, Imagine That! has exhibited all around Kansas City, as well as in several group exhibitions across the country.
This free event will be held at the Imagine That! studio in Kansas City. Donations are welcome. All are encouraged to attend.
