Meet a Folk-Rock Duo, Who Has Spanned Generations When the Indigo Girls Come to KC

Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts is proud to welcome the Indigo Girls with Chastity Brown on Tuesday, November 9th at 7:30 p.m. Since bursting into the spotlight with their 1988 self-titled breakout album, the Indigo Girls have made themselves a household name as one the music’s all-time top duos. Be sure to check them out when they perform live in Kansas City!

With a loyal fan base spanning generations and countries, Amy Ray and Emily Saliers are the only duo with top 40 titles on Billboard 200 in the '80s, '90s, '00s, and '10s. In the late 80s, Indigo Girls released their acclaimed eponymous album, which reached double-platinum status.

The duo has released 14 albums, received six GRAMMY nominations and earned a GRAMMY award for Best Contemporary Folk Recording. Most recently, they released their 14th studio album, titled One Last Day, in 2015. In addition to their music, the Indigo Girls are dedicated to activism and social causes including human rights, women’s health, environmental issues, LGBTQIA rights and more. Proceeds of their Take Action Tees go to causes they support.

Based in Minnesota, but with roots in Tennessee, Chastity Brown grew up surrounded by country and soul music. In the full gospel church of her childhood, she played saxophone and drums and found her singing voice and a passion for music. Described as an artist who can “plumb the depths of sadness in a single note, then release it in the very next breath,” Chastity melds folk, pop and soul, weaving together a poet’s lyrical ear and a soul-laid-bare quality.

Enjoy an evening of chart-topping music from Indigo Girls and Chastity Brown! Tickets for the Indigo Girls are $39-$69, plus applicable fees. Tickets are available for purchase online now at www.kauffmancenter.org or in person at Kauffman Center.

While we provide plenty of on-site entertainment at Domain City Center Apartments in Lenexa, Kansas, we believe that having fun within your larger community is equally as important. Do just that during this event on Tuesday!
