About 200 teams will compete in the Chili, Salsa, and Hot Wing contests. Chili contestants arrive on Friday afternoon to begin setting up their booths. The festivities Friday night include live music and fireworks. The contest begins Saturday at 10 a.m. with free samples for the public (while they last). Awards are typically announced at 4 p.m.
Kids 12 and under are invited to join in on the fun at the Lenexa Chili Challenge with the Kids Kornbread Contest. They can show off their culinary skills by creating the best cornbread in the contest, and be eligible to win great prizes.
