Learn the History Behind an Iconic Game at this Special Exhibit

Don’t miss the nostalgic and fascinating exhibit coming to the National Museum of Toys and Miniatures! Playing for Keeps, the newest exhibition set to go on display starting November 11th, revisits the wildly popular game of marbles and how it brought generations of players together at the famed VFW Marble Tournaments.

The informative show explores how marble playing ruled playgrounds for much of the twentieth century. Requiring only a handful of marbles and a patch of dirt, the game crossed all economic and social barriers. In 1947, the Veterans of Foreign Wars created a national marble tournament to positively influence young boys and re-engage WWII and Korean War veterans in civilian life, and the annual event became a life-changing experience for the thousands of kids who participated. Playing for Keeps tells the firsthand stories of the players alongside their souvenirs, trophies, and marble memorabilia to transport guests back to the golden age of this playground competition. Learn the fantastic tales and experience this special exhibit at the National Museum of Toys and Miniatures!
